Our ocean-themed raffle basket is complete! We have many exciting items generously donated by local businesses, artists and people including Nova Scotia Fishermen, Call of the Ocean Shop, the Laughing Whale Coffee Roasters, and Sea Change Clothing Co.
Tickets for the raffle basket will be sold at the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market on Saturday, June 3rd to raise money for the Sustainable Oceans Conference 2017! Look for our table outside at the market and we will also be hosting some fun kids crafts.

This year the conference received a record number of abstract submissions! From biological sciences the arts, and from undergraduate studies to PhDs, a total of 33 submissions were received from a number of different academic disciplines and levels of study. After much consideration, the submissions committee has finalized the selection process and is happy to announce that the very high quality of this year’s submissions meant that each one has been chosen to be part of the Sustainable Oceans Conference! The committee is very excited for conference goers to experience the 9 talks and 24 posters that will be presented at this year’s conference. The committee would also like send a big thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract this year. We look forward to seeing you at the conference in September!
MASS held their first bake of the year on February 17th in the LSC building at Dalhousie University. This fundraising event was a success, raising $261.10 for the Sustainable Oceans Conference 2017!
MASS had their second bake sale of the year on March 24th in the LSC at Dalhousie University, raising $219.20 for the Sustainable Oceans Conference 2017!
MASS had their first successful trial run with selling samosas from Staff of Life on April 18th, 2017, earning a profit of $95.50 for the Sustainable Oceans Conference 2017! 35 samosas and 15 pakoras were sold for a recommended donation of $4 each.
