Sustainable Oceans hosted ocean-themed craft time in the Lindsay’s Children Room at the Halifax Central Library. We provided all of the supplies so that people of all ages decorated their own octopus, clam, and turtle from recycled materials!
This was the first time the Sustainable Oceans Conference put together an ocean-themed raffle basket and it was a success, raising almost $350! The draw was held on June 8th, World Oceans Day, and one lucky winner by the name of Kim Brow took home our basket filled with many items generously donated by local businesses and artisans.
Sustainable Oceans attended Doors Open Halifax at the Steele Ocean Sciences Building to tell everyone about our exciting conference! We also sold tickets for our raffle basket and let people decorate our whale tail.
Sustainable Oceans attended the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market during Ocean’s Week Halifax with fun activities for kids, which included decorating scales for “Fin the Fish”. We also told everyone about our exciting conference and sold tickets for our raffle basket.
Sustainable Oceans attended the Oceans + You Event at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic to inspire people of all ages to think about the ocean by getting them to “Fin the Fish” and tell us why they love the ocean.
